Press Release - Friday November 24, 2017

By Mark - Posted on 24 November 2017

As Muslim worshippers gathered for Friday prayers in the Northern Sinai province of Egypt, militants from the Egyptian affiliate of the Islamic State unleashed gunfire and bombings that left at least 235 people dead.
On behalf of the faithful of the Coptic Orthodox Church, the Archdiocese of North America extends our heartfelt sympathies and prayers for the victims, the injured, the families, and the first responders. As the Coptic Orthodox Church begins a 3-day fast starting tomorrow – which commemorates the moving of the Mokattam Mountain in Cairo during the 10th century – we fast and pray for God to move the hearts of those that would seek to cause harm to any person. An attack on any member of humanity is an attack on all of humanity.
May God grant protection for all peoples throughout the world, comfort for the families of the victims, healing for the injured, and wisdom for those who govern.
